Nice antique tin Chichesters Diamond Brand Pills with direction sheet circa 1907

Description

We were pleased to find this vintage item at an estate sale in a tiny town in rural Georgia. It is a small tin for Chi-ches-ters Diamond Brand Pills with the scarce original direction sheet. The item measures 2 3/8 by 1 1/2 by 1 1/8 inches with a metallic red background and gold and black lettering and designs. We estimate the tin to date from the very early 1900s.
The top reads "Chi-ches-ters Diamond Brand Pills / Directions Inside / New Style / Distributed by Chichester Chemical Co. / Sole Proprietors / Philadelphia, Pa. USA / Price'' but with no dollar amount given. One end reads ''New Style Adopted January 1st, 1907 / Directions Inside / Price,'' while the other ends reads ''Trade Mark / Chichesters Diamond Brand Pills.''
Written on the front is ''Small Size / Price / Chichesters Diamond Brand Pills / Caution: Beware of Counterfeits and Imitation. See That You Get The Genuine Diamond Brand Pills And Take No Other. The Genuine Has Our Signature On Side Of Every Box Thus:'' followed by "Chichester Chemical Co.'' in script.
The back reads ''Chichesters Diamond Brand / Caution to Druggists and Dealers Generally. We Own and Control the Trade Mark Chichesters Diamond Brand With Diamond Design. To Counterfeit Is Criminal.''
On the bottom is a paper label reading ''To Counterfeit Is Felony / Chichesters Diamond Brand / Trade Mark / See That (Seal Is) Unbroken,'' with the portion containing the words in parentheses missing.
The inside of the hinged lid is also metallic read and features a crescent moon in gilt, the face of a woman and the words ''Small Size / Price / Chichesters Pills Diamond Brand / Original and Only Genuine / Beware of Counterfeits and Imitations / Chichester Chemical Co.''
The inside of the tin is gun-metal blue and has a small hole and metal tab in the bottom covered by the paper on the outside.
There are some minor scratches as would be expected on an item this old, and there is some gilt loss on the bottom. The hinges are solid, the colors still bright (especially on the sides and inside the lid) and overall the condition is quite good.
The directions sheet measures about 11 by 4 inches overall. It was folded three times before being placed in the tin and has a couple of thin spots at the creases, but otherwise it's in nice shape.
